Seoul International Computer Music Festival 2026

The Seoul International Computer Music Festival is a celebration of computer music in which diverse media and technologies converge harmoniously around the art of sound. Since its inauguration in 1994, the Festival has grown into a distinguished international forum where composers and performers from around the world gather to explore new forms of artistic expression and to share their musical languages, ideas, and philosophies. This year, we are honored to celebrate the Festival’s thirty-third edition. The 2026 Festival welcomes audiences under the theme “Traditional Instruments and Electronic Music: Time Synthesis.” By bringing advanced electronic music technologies into dialogue with the rich temporal and spatial resonances preserved within Korean traditional instruments and the diverse musical instruments of cultures around the world, we seek to explore a new musical dimension embodied in the concept of “Time Synthesis.” Encompassing the technologies of both past and present, and reinterpreting the sounds of tradition through a contemporary perspective, this endeavor offers a distinctive journey toward expanding the future horizons of computer music. This year, we are also deeply honored to welcome Vertixe Sonora, the internationally acclaimed contemporary music ensemble from Spain, for a meaningful program of artistic exchange. Alongside a diverse series of concerts presented at Yonsei University, the Festival features an exceptionally rich selection of outstanding works from abroad, offering an in-depth reflection of the latest developments and creative currents in contemporary computer music. We extend our profound gratitude to all participating artists from Asia, Europe, the Americas, and other regions of the world who have so generously shared their distinctive artistic visions with us. We also offer our sincere appreciation to the members of the Korean Electro-Acoustic Music Society and to the musicians of Korea, whose unwavering dedication and generous service have made this Festival possible. As the enduring voices of traditional instruments and the most advanced technologies of electronic music converge through “Time Synthesis,” we sincerely hope that this year’s Festival will open a compelling new sound world of the future and bring a rich, inspiring, and successful experience to all.

서울국제컴퓨터음악제는 소리를 중심으로 다양한 매체와 기술이 조화롭게 결합하는 컴퓨터음악 축제입니다. 1994년 첫 걸음을 내딛은 이래 올해로 33주년을 맞이하는 본 축제는, 세계 각지의 작곡가와 연주자들이 모여 새로운 예술적 표현 방식을 탐구하고 서로의 음악적 언어와 철학을 나누는 글로벌 장으로 성장해 왔습니다. 특히 2026년 올해 축제는 ‘전통악기와 전자음악: 시간합성(Time Synthesis)’이라는 주제로 청중 여러분을 맞이합니다. 한국의 국악기를 비롯해 세계 각국의 다채로운 전통악기가 축적해 온 '시공간의 울림'에 첨단 전자음악 기술을 투영하여, '시간합성'이라는 새로운 음악적 차원을 탐구하고자 합니다. 이는 과거와 현재의 기술을 아우르고 전통의 소리를 재해석함으로써 미래지향적인 컴퓨터음악의 지평을 열어가는 특별한 여정이 될 것입니다. 또한, 올해는 스페인의 세계적인 현대음악 앙상블 베르티세 소노라(Vertixe Sonora)를 초청하여 뜻깊은 교류 무대를 선보입니다. 연세대학교에서 펼쳐지는 다양한 연주회와 더불어, 그 어느 때보다 풍성한 해외 우수 작품들을 다수 준비하여 컴퓨터음악의 최신 흐름을 깊이 있게 담아냈습니다. 아시아, 유럽, 미대륙 등 전 세계 각지에서 독창적인 예술 세계를 공유해 주신 참여 아티스트 여러분께 깊은 감사를 드립니다. 아울러 본 행사를 위해 변함없는 열정으로 봉사해 주시는 회원 여러분과 국내 음악가들께도 진심으로 감사 인사를 전합니다. 오랜 전통의 소리와 첨단 전자음악 기술이 ‘시간합성’을 통해 펼쳐내는 미래의 음향 세계 속에서, 올해도 풍성하고 성공적인 축제가 되기를 진심으로 기대합니다.
